LPNI study tours offer Parish Nurses and others from around the world with the opportunity to learn, network and support one another, share experiences and models of practice, meet with pastors, deaconesses, Parish Nurses and others and enjoy fellowship with like-minded people. In recent years, such tours have taken participants to Palestine, Australia, Finland, the United States, Germany,New Zealand and beyond. The 2016 tour is to Brazil in July (regeistration is now closed)
Tuesday 1 August
Arrive into London, and transfer to your accommodation. This
evening you will enjoy a welcome dinner and introduction to the
tour program. Accommodation (three nights): Park Plaza Westminster
Bridge Hotel London (Across bridge from Westminster. Within walking
distance of Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, London Eye, Florence
Nightingale Museum, Westminster Underground station, Waterloo
railway station, Horse Guards, St James Park, Buckingham Palace,
McDonalds!!)
Wednesday 2 August
After breakfast you will have the opportunity to visit Westminster
Abbey (a short walk across the bridge over the River Thames from
your hotel), and other local landmarks. This could include the
changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, the London Eye (for a
magnificent panoramic view), and various other churches, as well as
the Florence Nightingale Museum.
Thursday 3 August
Today your tour will take you to visit the historic Tower of London
and the nearby St Paul’s cathedral.
Friday 4 August
This morning you will travel from London to Cambridge. In the
afternoon you will have the opportunity to explore the centre of
this famous university city.
Accommodation (Four nights): Arundel House Hotel, Chesterton Rd,
Cambridge
Saturday 5 August
After breakfast this morning you will make your way to Westfield
House — the theological training centre for the Evangelical
Lutheran Church of England — for a day-long seminar.
You will learn about the history and scope of the Lutheran church
in England, the study program at Westfield, and the development of
Parish Nursing in Great Britain.
Sunday 6 August
This morning you will join members of the Resurrection congregation
for their morning worship. Following the service there will be a
Powerpoint presentation for the congregation on the role and
ministry of a Parish Nurse, and then a short session in which
selected tourists will talk about their ministry.
Monday 7 August
Today will be a day of sight-seeing, including a visit to Claydon
House in Buckinghamshire.
This evening we bring our tour to a close with a farewell
dinner.
Tuesday 8 August
After breakfast this morning it’s time to depart for home or for
further touring in England.
